A little about Hartlip:

Nestled in the heart of Kent’s picturesque North Downs countryside, the charming village of Hartlip offers visitors a delightful blend of historic architectural, and natural beauty. Hartlip offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Hartlip is home to one of the country’s oldest primary schools which was founded in 1678 by an endowment from Mary Gibbon, whose second husband, Gabriel Salisbury was a Church of England vicar of Hartlip. Do take time to visit the Parish Church of St. Michael and All Angels, a tranquil and sacred building which dates back to the 13th century and a Saxon chapel existed on this site at least from the 11th century.

Take your time and enjoy your day, but do take care, these are private gardens and have not been designed for public access. The car park is a field and is not intended for the use of parking cars. Your participation in the Hartlip Open Gardens day and the use of all related facilities is conditional upon you accepting that you do so entirely at your own risk. You understand that to the extent permitted by English Law, neither the organisers nor any of the garden owners accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury, or death howsoever arising.

The event has been arranged to raise money for the parish church of St. Michael and All Angels, Hartlip. Additional donations are always welcome.

The Methodist congregation of Hartlip is providing ploughman’s lunches at the Hartlip Methodist Chapel and Retreat Centre starting at 12.00 noon. The chapel is located in The Street, Hartlip.

From 3 pm, Afternoon Tea with home-made cake is available at St. Michael & All Angel’s church.
